Ive been playing guitar for quite a while now, and honestly, in many situations I find myself embarrassed to say so. This is only due though to over exploitive society in which we live. Guitar center is just wal-mart but with guitars. I hate it. Rock band! What the hell is that. Why does every child admire the cracked out rockers who don’t give a fuck. These guys are flakes, and most of the time their music is simply noise to protest what is admired at the time.
There just like, no love man. Theres no soul in a lot of this stuff anymore. Its all eye candy. And that’s crap. Really if you get down to it, id rather slow strum two good chords back and forth anyday rather than sweep an arpeggio as fast as I can.
And oh my gosh where the hell is music heading?! I swear this dub-step drugged out crap better die out faster than disco did. Electronica offers a lot of interesting sounds that can be incorporated into music, but once one person strikes gold everyone seeks to copy it. Its awful. I hate the pop music and the music girls and boys play at parties.
All in all I still love my guitar though because of the peace I can find in the vibration of a string when no one is listnening. Its just like Om really, you can hear that everytime. What I have really started to veer towards however is the banjo. I think ill be able to find my soul in this thing. What a good protest instrument- a drum with strings over it brought by the slaves from Africa, now to combat the electronic drug music and exploitive capitalism. F ya!
Alright. Another healthy music rant.
