Nicole Voyles Ancient Art and Ritual. 2/15/11
I was just reading about religious rites in the ancient Greek culture in Ancient Art and Ritual. The author Jane Ellen Harrison illustrates on page (not sure but maybe) 35 that the Greeks believed in rites as dromenon or a “thing done.” this is something we touch on in class often. As a Cherokee myself, all my actions should be considered rites. As a matter of culture, I am supposed to treat every moment as a gift, including food, shelter and education. In doing so a constant and continuous grace must be upheld so that I can be thankful. I try to do this but as of yet I still think about moments I am unthoughtful and have regretted it.
