John Scott- My Art=Word Art

I have been thinking about art a lot obviously due to this class. I have been asking me myself over the course so far, what is my art? What is the art that I have that I bring to this world to make it more beautiful? I really enjoy words and the spoken word. I like to write and journal as well. I think that trying to communicate the divine and deep, infinite concepts into finite words is what I like the best. I also like to hear the stories of others. I think being an artist means that you must be able to create art but also interpret art and understand it. I enjoy reading the works of others who seek to communicate these ideals. The words in music have always been more important to me then the way the song sounds. An idea or concept that could be communicated through words is very impactful. I have always loved a good novel. The Scarlet Letter is one of my favorite novels because it uses imagery of sin and isolation in such a profound manner. To me, that novel is a work of art that has impacted the way I look at forgiveness, redemption and our longing for acceptance. Words are powerful tools and they conjure images that have even stronger meanings and impressions.
