Taylor Quinn, My Choice, Plato, 2/3/11

Plato says that art is merely imitation. It is simply a shadow of what real art is. The art itself is not what is most real. This is simply a shadow of what the ideal or perfect art is. It is the same for the allegory of the cave.

In this sense I can somewhat agree. I think that when people created art it is a representation of a greater art. We have a desire to create art because we long to connect to the greatest artist, God. He is the ultimate craftsman and artist. He is the creator of what is beautiful.
