Art as Imitation

Subject: Art as Imitation

Topic of my choice

To be free of all forms of the world is to be free of its stain. This enlightens us to the all the things the world really offers. Buddhism preaches that “Emptiness in and of itself is truly empty, but as lived out or activated in the world of living human existence it is truly non-empty and enlightens or illuminates all things.” I chose this topic, as it is the foundation for a powerful lifestyle. At the same time it takes a powerful mind to truly commit to this idea as it opposes the form of life we experience so frequently. This statement means that as soon as we commit to a life external to the culturally created forms and live a life of honesty, we will free ourselves from the shackles that steer us in misleading directions. This relates to the course idea of finding truth in art. Art is easily misinterpreted if your mind is not empty. By freeing yourself of exterior influences we can more easily understand what is being conveyed in art. I find this idea very compelling and intriguing. We often live a life too connected to material possession. Disconnection with material possession and valuing emptiness can fulfill us more than any amount of material can.
