Taylor Quinn, My Choice, Seminole Paintings, 4/21/11
I looked a several painting of the Seminole Native Americans by Eugene Savage. He depicts them as modern America moved in on their land. The beauty can be seen through intersubjectivity. Savage is quoted as saying “With the Seminoles, I painted as I saw and felt it, and took care to be authentic on details, knowing than no one else painted the Seminoles-all other painters chose the Western Indians. In time the Seminole will be only an ethnological relic”. Did he use phenomenology? I think he did.
