Extraordinary artists are thought to see the world differently than the average person. This is thought to be the explanation behind their marvelous creations. Plate says, “One theory about artistic creation is that extraordinary artists come into this world with a different way of seeing.” (Plate, 63) I chose this statements as I believe it fails to consider many of the other things mentioned in the chapter that are though to contribute to artistic creations. This statement gives all the credit of amazing art to the idea that artists simply see differently than most other people. So, amazing art is determined at birth simply by the inherited vision passed down by your parents. If artist see the world differently than the average person than it will be hard for the average person to read and understand there art as it is effectively of another world. I don’t find this statement very compelling as the author fails to mention other characteristics that have been know to contribute to artistic creations such as genius that accounts for the incredible emotion that is behind much of art.
