Julia Craig: C.S. Lewis: Truth

If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.

C.S Lewis has always been one of my favorite authors. He speaks in a way that I would never be able to but always makes sense and is writing exactly what I am thinking. I read Mere Christianity and pulled this quotation from it. So often do we combine the words comfort and truth together because we think that the truth with always make us happy instantly. But, sometimes the truth hurts. That doesn’t mean we should ask for it. Truth is always the best solution in the long run. If we just seek comfort then we will only find ourselves wishing on a shooting star and living in a dreamland. That will never take us anywhere or bring us closer to the truth.
