Adam Rasmussen: Power of the Sun
After the last few weeks of school work, I’ve been forced to spend much of my time in the library. In the library for hours upon hours, locked away from the beautiful day outside. Being away from the sun makes people depressed. The last few weeks, ive been doing my schoolwork outside on my roof. I really enjoy being able to do school work in the sun and have it beating down on my face. I feel like it allows me to feel much less constricted and it gives me hope and determination. Sometimes I even blow off work in order to just run around outside with friends or play a game of football or basketball. When faced with the decision to work on tedious school work in the dingy library with the fake lights or to go outside enjoy the sun, I find it extremely hard to control my urges to be outside. I think that being out in a beautiful day and having the ability to freely think about whatever you want could teach someone something much more useful and meaningful than say a paper on supply chain management. I feel like the sun can have such a positive influence on a person and on their mentality, it has the ability to pull someone out of a pit of despair and give them a fighting chance. Without the sun, there is no life and I believe that you can harness that power of life in order to make yours better, even if its something as small as enjoying the warmth of the sun on your skin, even for a moment.
