Caleb Henderson-Outside reading
I read a book recently called Education in America by Neil Postman. He talks about education in America taking a turn for the worst because you can essentially get as far as you want to by working the system. This is caused by the way teachers are examined as being good. Grades are a concept that are not beneficial to educators, or their students. The way this is beautiful to me is what Postman says is the way to learn is by experiences, almost like phenomenology. I am a bad naturally, but have to work very hard in school to get grades I need to, but feel I have so much life knowledge that does not get credit from employers or transcripts. Life experience is a beutiful thing that needs to be counted more among scholars.
