In class we have discussed the inter-subjective relationship. According to Merriam Webster Online, the inter-subjective is “accessible to or capable of being established for two or more subjects.” Through our experiences we are able to identify and connect with others. The inter-subjective is the subjective and the objective, molded together. Inter-subjectivity provides a bridge, a connection between the self and others.
As a social work major inter-subjectivity is highly important to me. It allows me to empathize with others. Empathy is a large part of social work practice. Without inter-subjectivity it would be difficult to relate to others and develop a rapport with social work clients.
