Jacqueline Thornley:Hitler and Art School (Outside Reading #3)

In my leadership class we had to read a biography on Hitler. According to the biography, Hitler originally had applied to art school before he went into the military and eventually art school. His original goal had been to become an artist. I found this fascinating. As we’ve seen throughout the class, there are probably as many philosophies about beauty and the importance of art as there are paintings in the world. Some of them say that art is the most important thing whereas others say art means nothing. No matter where your personal philosophy may lie, one thing is certain; in this situation art influenced the world. If Hitler had been accepted into art school and had become an artist, perhaps the holocaust would have never happened. Or perhaps he would have become world famous and known for being a prolific artist, not world wide murderer.
