Benjamin Roseberry-Phil 101
It is really cool to see how this class can relate so well to my Philosophy 101 class. I am pretty sure that, aside from Psychology 300, Philosophy 101 would have been the last class I would have picked for being relevant to the material covered in this class. We have a debate coming up, and the topic is on objective beauty. I will be arguing that beauty is in fact objective. I am not sure exactly what I will use as support for that claim but I feel that I agree with it to an extent. I believe in a God who is a beautifully perfect artist. If the case is that he is perfect, then there would have to be some type of standard that he set for beauty. This standard of course cannot be perfectly replicated so maybe the an idea I can use with this is that of Plato’s forms. This would give a general idea of a “something” beyond the tangible “something.”
